Course Overview
This course is to expose the students to different thoughts and perspectives on design. * The course will present different concerns and issues in the context of design. * The course will also expose the students to emerging areas of design. * Relevance of design in the context of India. * Importance of sustainable design practices. * Preserving traditional practices. * Designing for the underserved communities. * Exposure to bionics, nano design, experience design, green design, etc.

Prof. Anirudha Nanasaheb Joshi
Prof. Anirudha Joshi is professor in the interaction design stream in the IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, India. He works in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) design. He teaches HCI and related topics in IIT Bombay and in academic institutions all over India. He was one of the first teachers to introduce usability and ethnographic user studies methods in India.
Prof. Sumant Muralidhar Rao
Prof. Sumant Muralidhar Rao is an engineer, designer and an animato and has 13 years experience in the field of animation, and special effects filmmaking. He has been a consultant to Discreet, (a Canadian based company, that makes leading animation, editing and compositing software) and Tata Elxsi India Limited. He was the Director and one of the founding members of Animagic, a company with a sterling reputation for the quality of it’s work, be it traditional animation, computer graphics, special effects or illustration and design for print and the internet.
