IDC/metaverse is an AI-enabled digital extension of our beloved IDC, where we celebrate the unique culture of IITBombay by sharing insights on diverse design challenges, announcing events, and engaging with our vibrant community.
The vision is to redefine design education by seamlessly integrating AI-powered tools within a collaborative learning environment. We empower both faculty and students through three core pillars:

Building a Strong Foundation: At the heart of IDC/metaverse is our commitment to equipping design students with a deep understanding of AI fundamentals. Through our unique DesignGPT process, students learn to integrate AI tools into their design projects, gaining hands-on experience with no-code and low-code development platforms.
Ethics & Creativity at the Forefront: We believe that ethics, creativity, empathy, and social responsibility are the pillars of design. As AI becomes one of humanity’s most powerful tools, it must be used responsibly and in alignment with our moral values. Our focus on AI literacy ensures that students harness AI to enhance their design education without compromising their creativity or individuality.
AI-Enabled Courses & Studios
Empowering Faculty: Educators can effortlessly create and host courses on our AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS). They also have the option to establish specialized Studios tailored to their fields, complete with advanced AI tools.
Streamlined Course Management: Our LMS simplifies academic workflows by enabling efficient course uploads, content creation, research, class management, real-time feedback, assessments, and grading.
Interactive Learning for Students: Learners can access engaging course videos and receive personalized support from specialized AI agents. This interactive approach helps clarify doubts, reinforces understanding, and provides valuable assistance with assignments.
Social Learning & Open Source Sharing
A Collaborative Community: IDC/metaverse features a dynamic social feed where faculty and students share AI experiments, showcase class projects, and engage in meaningful discussions. Dedicated forums and groups enable members to exchange ideas, offer peer feedback, and critically review work.

IDC/metaverse is a joint initiative of the Open Design School, Design Innovation Centre, and eKalpa (D’source), funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is designed to bridge the gap between AI technology and design, ensuring that educators and students are well-equipped to navigate and innovate in an AI-driven world.
